Starr Regional Medical Center today announced that K. Matthew Gooch, MD, has joined its staff and will offer internal medicine services to patients of the communities in and around McMinn County. Dr. Gooch has more than 20 years of experience in treating patients in traditional practice, inpatient and long-term care settings. He specializes in general medicine, treating chronic conditions and care for the elderly.
“Dr. Gooch has experience in treating a range of general and chronic conditions in a variety of healthcare settings, and he is an excellent addition to our team of providers,” said John McLain, chief executive officer of Starr Regional Medical Center. “There is an increasing need for internal medicine providers in our area, and Dr. Gooch’s expertise will be important as Starr Regional Medical Center strives to meet our region’s evolving healthcare needs and make our community healthier.”
Dr. Gooch joins Starr Regional Medical Center upon completion of more than 20 years of service to the Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) Clinic in Whitesburg, Kentucky. He was also an active staff member of Whitesburg ARH Hospital, where he served as Vice Chief of Staff, chair of the Department of Medicine and Chief of Staff.
Dr. Gooch graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in May 1996. He completed his residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Ky. Dr. Gooch is a member of the American College of Physicians.
He and his wife, Missy, recently moved from Millstone, Ky., to Athens, Tenn.
